藝術自進入觀念藝術之後,感官的視覺形式「美」漸漸地淡出了藝術的視野。觀念藝術似乎佔據了整個藝壇的學術,但問題是觀念藝術並沒有躍出語言的形式主義層面,而且一味的形式主義追問,表面上藝術形式似乎多樣化,但實質卻是讓藝術越來越趨於符號化,觀眾卻也越來越難以理解今天的藝術。

我希望將藝術還原於單純的呈現,使我們通過視覺的瞬間反應,獲得美的享受。我知道,我們對於美的理解是千變萬化的。但根本上,還是視覺反射與內心認知碰撞的契合關係點。這無外乎藝術最基礎定義的那些關係,點、線、面、色彩的組合、構成等等。

對於所謂藝術的創造,就是對它們的如何應用同時關聯於文化的關係,或者說文化的意義大於對形式的思考。換句話說,藝術與文化關係給予的指向要從藝術的形式上凸顯。

我的作品《炫線》,就是站在這樣的立場上的認識與表達。我對點、線、面及色彩的關係做了解構與重構,這種解構與重構的關係是建立在對空間、多維的思維認識中。我努力構築一種接近當下視覺文化的大眾視線。我將線型、色面、色變、色域重建在我所設定的空間關係中,並讓其具有一種多維幻象的一種新秩序,這個秩序關乎著我對於美的重新理解。在我看來更重要的是,通過我的手工編織所給予的這種對美的呈現,而反映的一種對「美」的觸摸與觀看。

這是一個美的過程,一個觸摸與觸控的新維度。

Since it has entered the age of conceptual art, sensual visual “beauty” in art has slowly faded out. Conceptual art has dominated almost the entire art world. But the problem is that conceptual art never breaks from formalism in linguistics. Not to mention that blindly pursuing formalism may seem on the surface to diversify art forms, the truth is it makes art more and more symbolic, and that is why the audience finds it more and more difficult to understand the art of today.

I hope to present art in its pure form so that we get to enjoy such beauty the moment we lay our eyes on it. I know we have so many different opinions about beauty. Yet, it is basically about how well our visual reflection collides with our inner perception, which all comes down to the basic definitions of dots, lines, planes, and color schemes and compositions of art.

As for so-called artistic creation, it is about how artists apply the relationship between art and culture or their ideas that the meaning of culture is greater than its form. In other words, the give-and-take relationship between art and culture should be a highlight of the art form.

My work “Dazzling Lines” is my understanding and expression from such a standpoint. 

My deconstruction and reconstruction of the relationship of dots, lines, planes, and colors are based on my understanding of space and dimensions. I try hard to construct a “public vision” that is close to the visual culture we have now.  I reconstructed lines, color fields, color distortion, and color gamut in the spatial relationship I defined and gave it a new order that is multi-dimensionally illusionary. Such a new order is essential to my new understanding of beauty.  In my opinion, what matters more is that I express my version of beauty through my handmade woven artworks, which reflects beauty appreciated through touching and seeing.

This is the process of beauty; it is a new dimension of touching and controlling.
